Dishwasher Not Draining: Pump or Something Else?
Water in the bottom of the tub does not automatically mean the drain pump is bad. A blocked filter, clogged drain hose, disposal connection, check valve or control problem can leave the same puddle.
We check the drain path before calling the pump bad. If the pump is getting power but cannot move water, then the pump itself moves higher on the list.
That matters because replacing a good pump does nothing if the real problem is a blockage farther down the line.
If a dishwasher stopped draining right after a new garbage disposal was installed, mention that when you call. The disposal connection is one of the first things worth checking.
