Preventing Fire Hazard with Professional Maintenance

It is extremely important to provide professional maintenance on a regular basis. It helps prevent many problems with your appliances and extends its life.

And more importantly, it will prevent potential hazards!

According to the National Fire Protection Association, nearly 16,000 home structure fires involving clothes dryers or washing machines are reported each year. These fires cause annual averages of 13 deaths, 444 injuries, and $238 million in property loss.

And, according to U.S. Fire Administration, failure to clean the dryer is the leading cause (34%) of home clothes dryer fires.
To prevent a potential fire hazard:

✔ Clean the lint filter regularly (as lint is extremely flammable), don’t forget to clean the back of the dryer where lint can build up.

Clean dryer vent, it improves safety and efficiency. Depending on the venting circumstances, it should be inspected and cleaned every 6-12 months.

Clean the duct that connects the dryer’s rear vent to the exterior vent. as it is also a common place for lint to collect.

Do not overload the dryer.

Do not dry anything containing foam, rubber or plastic.

Do not dry clothes that have gas, cooking oil, or other chemical stains.

✔ Have your dryer cleaned regularly by a professional, especially if it’s taking longer than normal for clothes to dry.
